Today, we’re thrilled to sit down with the incredibly talented Kate Noelle of Kate Noelle Photography. As friends and colleagues, we’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with Kate on numerous occasions, and we can attest to the fact that her work goes beyond capturing moments; it’s about capturing emotions and creating timeless memories. As the winner of the “Best Wedding Photographer” for California Wedding Day’s Best of 2023 Awards, we knew we had to sit down with her and show her some vendor love!

In this vendor highlights Q&A session, we’ll delve into the world of wedding photography through Kate’s lens. We’ll explore her artistic approach, her most cherished moments behind the camera, and how she collaborates with fellow vendors, including florists like me, to make each wedding a breathtaking masterpiece.
What would you say you specialize in?
Dreamy California coastal portraits, romantic “in-between” moments, and capturing the connectedness of my subjects all with an air of luxury and an eye for detail.
How would you consider your style?
True-to-life color, classic black and white, editorial, connected. I love to mix breathtaking scenic views with quiet romantic moments, fun party shots of your besties, and sweet one-on-one interactions you’d otherwise miss if I didn’t get a photo of them.
Do you ever tear up at weddings?
I’m a big ol’ softy who tears up more than once on a wedding day, especially during the father-daughter dance. But since becoming a mom to a little boy, the mother-son dance brings the waterworks for sure.
How many weddings have you photographed?
Over 300
What atmosphere during a wedding day allows you to do your best work?…
My best work blooms out of trust and time to make it all happen. It’s best when the vendor team allows one another to be creative, works to get things done on time, and takes care of each other. When the planning team allocates enough time to photograph all the components of a wedding day, it allows me to not just get the bare essential shots, but also to be creative with my capture of everyone’s work.
When working with couples, what do you value the most?
I get to photograph the best couples on the planet. They’re fun and thoughtful, adventurous and love to celebrate… and they always have impeccable style. The couples who trust me and invite me into their friend groups and families get the best, most authentically captured photos they treasure the rest of their lives.
When you’re not working, what are you doing?
Hanging with the family at the beach, sipping my hand-ground poured-over coffee, or watching Schitt’s Creek reruns. I love traveling to Hawaii and Europe…. and wine country, of course!
Just for fun – what is your superpower?
Making anyone feel comfortable in front of the camera so their best selves can be seen.
